Colour by Schubert would like to announce that we are showing customer work printed on Ilford Gold Fibre Silk Traditional Baryta paper. For those of you who are familiar with traditional B&W printing, this paper will give you the texture and quality you remember from printing on fibre-based papers using the tray system.
For those of you unfamiliar with fibre-based paper, RC (resin-coated) papers became the go-to paper for commercial printing because of the necessity for speed. Commercial processors could not run fibre papers because of the washing time necessary. However, with the advent of the commercial ink jet printer, this style of paper can now be used without the mess of trays (which of course wouldn’t work for you if you are shooting digital anyway).
What makes this paper special? It offers excellent detail rendering in the mid-tones, as well as saturation. That’s right, this paper can be used equally successfully for colour images as well as B&W. Heck, it even smells the same as the traditional paper.
Currently, we have a selection of images printed on this paper displayed in our storefront window. You can also view some of these images in our gallery. If you have any questions or would like to see the images, pop on down.
